The video named Peter Singers ethics contains numerous examples of moral arguments; in fact, moral argument is the kind of argument that Peter Singer predominantly uses in the video to convey his opinion.The issue that Peter Singer addresses in his video is the moral value of the choices that people make in their lives and the choices that people choose not to make in their lives. The focus of Singers idea is on the fact that it is not sufficient to avoid harming people and other living beings; it is also important to consider whether personal choices contribute to making the world a better place, and whether the persons choices are good in the moral sense. Singer supports his arguments with a vivid example: most people would choos e to save a drowning boy and sacrifice a pair of expensive shoes in such situation, but at the same time many people choose to buy luxurious and expensive things despite the fact that they could save several boys by donating these money. In this case, Singer illustrates that it is easy to be commonly moral, but it is more difficult to evaluate own choices not only in evidently critical situations but in ordinary situations as well.Singer uses the type of argument which is referred to as moral argument. According to Rainbolt Dwyer (2014), a moral argument is such an argument the conclusion of which asserts something to be morally good or morally bad. The premises of Singers arguments are the following: it is morally good to care about other living beings and make choices that make the world better for others, and it is morally bad to cause suffering of other human beings and to avoid helping when there are resources available for helping. Hence, Singer implicitly concludes that purc hasing luxurious goods is not moral as it is better to help the poor, and that eating meat is not moral because other sentient living beings have to suffer.Singers view is approved from the deontological point of view. Deontological arguments rely on the specific intrinsic value of an action or a choice (Rainbolt Dwyer, 2014). Singer ascribes positive moral value to helping other living beings and reducing their suffering. These intrinsic features are universalizable (Rainbolt Dwyer, 2014) and it would be beneficial for the society if everyone shared such views. Therefore, Singer presents valid deontological moral arguments in his video.

M. Butterfly, a Play by David Henry Hwang M. Butterfly is a play written by David Henry Hwang. The drama won the Tony Award for Best Play in 1988. The Setting The play is set in a prison in present-day France. (Note: The play was written in the late 1980s.) The audience travels back to 1960s and 1970s Beijing, via the memories and dreams of the main character. The Basic Plot Shamed and imprisoned, 65-year-old Rene Gallimard contemplates the events that led to a shocking and embarrassing international scandal. While working for the French embassy in China, Rene fell in love with a beautiful Chinese performer. For over twenty years, they carried on a sexual relationship, and over the decades, the performer stole secrets on behalf of the Chinese communist party. But heres the shocking part: the performer was a female impersonator, and Gallimard claimed that he never knew he had been living with a man all those years. How could the Frenchman maintain a sexual relationship for over two decades without learning the truth? Based on a True Story? In the playwright notes at the beginning of the published edition of M. Butterfly, it explains that the story was initially inspired by real events: a French diplomat named Bernard Bouriscot fell in love with an opera singer whom he believed for twenty years to be a woman (quoted in Hwang). Both men were convicted of espionage. In Hwangs afterward, he explains that the news article sparked an idea for a story, and from that point the playwright stopped doing research on the actual events, wanting to create his own answers to the questions many had about the diplomat and his lover. In addition to its non-fictional roots, the play is also a clever deconstruction of the Puccini opera, Madama Butterfly. Fast Track to Broadway Most shows make it to Broadway after a long period of development. M. Butterfly had the good fortune of having a true believer and benefactor from the beginning. Producer Stuart Ostrow funded the project early on; he admired the finished process so much that he launched a production in Washington D.C., followed by a Broadway premiere weeks later in March of 1988 - less than two years after Hwang first discovered the international story. When this play was on Broadway, many audiences were fortunate enough to witness the incredible performance of BD Wong starring as Song Liling, the seductive opera singer. Today, the political commentary may fascinateà more than the sexual idiosyncrasies of the characters. Themes of M. Butterfly Hwangs play says much about humanitys propensity for desire, self-deception, betrayal, and regret. According to the playwright, the drama also penetrates the common myths of eastern and western civilization, as well as the myths about gender identity. Myths About the East The character of Song knows that France and the rest of the Western world perceive Asian cultures as submissive, wanting - even hoping - to be dominated by a powerful foreign nation. Gallimard and his superiors grossly underestimate China and Vietnams ability to adapt, defend, and counterattack in the face of adversity. When Song is brought forth to explain his actions to a French judge, the opera singer implies that Gallimard deceived himself about his lovers true sex because Asia is not considered a masculine culture in comparison to Western Civilization. These false beliefs prove detrimental to both the protagonist and the nations he represents. Myths About the West Song is a reluctant member of Chinas communist revolutionaries, who see the westerners as domineering imperialists bent on the moral corruption of the East. However, if Monsieur Gallimard is emblematic of Western Civilization, his despotic tendencies are tempered with a desire to be accepted, even at the cost of supplication. Another myth of the west is that nations in Europe and North America thrive by generating conflict in other countries. Yet, throughout the play, the French characters (and their government) constantly wish to avoid conflict, even if it means they must deny reality in order to attain a facade of peace. Myths About Men and Women Breaking the fourth wall, Gallimard frequently reminds the audience that he has been loved by the perfect woman. Yet, the so-called perfect female turns out to be very male. Song is a clever actor who knows the exact qualities most men desire in an ideal woman. Here are some of the characteristics Song exhibits to ensnare Gallimard: Physical beautyShrewdness which gives way to submissivenessSelf-sacrificeA combination of modesty and sexinessThe ability to produce offspring (specifically a son) By the end of the play, Gallimard comes to terms with the truth. He realizes that Song is just a man and a cold, mentally abusive one at that. Fire preparedness In case of a fire the employees should report immediately to the nearest fire department office in the area; notify the Incident Commander or Departmental Manager available during that time. If it is a small fire, the person should try extinguishing it using the fire extinguishers available. If it is a large fire, the person should vacate the building and make no attempts to put it out. Once the Incident Commander is on scene, the decision on evacuation will be made. The alarms should be set on so that other employees can be notified of the events going on in the firm. Evacuation should then be made possible by security personnel or evacuation team present. The employees should be warned not to use the lifts or elevators during a fire incident. Employees should also assemble in areas designated for fire assembly (Menken and Blokdjik, 2010). Bomb/ Terrorist attack Preparedness In case of a notification of bomb or terrorist attack in the firm the first step should be to notify police departments immediately. The attack or threat should then be communicated to the Manager and Incident Commander who will organize for evacuation of the building premises. Other departmental heads and members of other firms within the same building should also be notified (Menken and Blokdjik, 2010). Dangerous Attacks and Threatening Situations These may include hostage situations, dealing with armed robbers and strikes and riots from employees. In such situations, one of the employees who is outside the building at such a time should be notified so that they can notify the police departments of the problem. The security personnel of the building where the firm exists should also be notified. If possible, an effort should be made to understand the motive of these people and thus come to an agreement with them (Menken and Blokdjik, 2010). Disaster Recovery Procedures These are the steps that will guide the whole plan and will be implemented in case a disaster occurs. This process will encompass setting and establishing of a set of laws and disciplines that will guarantee business operations to continue without intermissions (Awasthy, 2009). First, there will be need to set up a planning committee that will foresee the establishment of programs to be done in case of a disaster. The plan should be able to oversee all actions and implementary measures necessary. The next step is risk assessment. This is important so that the management of the firm is able to quantify risk levels against the firm from potential disasters. It will also guide the implementation of safety measur es in the firm (Thejendra, 2008). There would be need to establish and define recovery modes and strategies. These are the strategies that the firm would adopt in case a disaster such as a fire hit them. There was once a poor, elderly fisherman with a wife and three children, who was in the habit of casting his net exactly four times each day. Despite he lived near a sea, his catch wasn't enough to feed the family and earn money for life, sometimes he had to choose between these things. His wife was always angry, she complained to herself about living with nothing. The children weren't clever, but they were good at fishing, and most of the time the old man took two of them with him when he was going fishing leaving one to help his mother. Once there was a storm, cloud were covering the whole sky so the sun couldn't be seen. Nobody in their right mind would go in such weather to the sea. But in fisherman's house left no food, so he was made by his wife to go there. He was standing on a cliff holding the net in his skinny, quavering. Suddenly a wave bumped him and he fall down in water. Waking up he realized that he was lying on sand in the sun. He found his net lying in seventeen meters from him, he came to it. But what's this? A golden lamp was entangled in his net. When he found the way to his home he put the lamp on the kitchen table for taking it to sale in a town. Telling his wife not to touch the lamp he went for fishing again, because he brought nothing but an old dirty lamp. He caught some fish for the dinner and went home. "I'm going to the town today to sell this lamp"- he said to the family. Before he went out he decided to polish the lap firstly to get more money. He started to polish it and a bright light illuminated the entire room. When the light had gone he saw a man looking at him, but there were no legs, there was just a smoke instead of them. "Who are you?!" - the fisherman asked. "I am called Jahar. I can f... ...aming that there had been no gold left, that she had spent all money and when she had not been able to pay the guard, they burned the house, killed her sons and took the gold. The man felt nothing but rage that fueled by his hatred for her. He smiled and told her to come with him, when they came to a room he took a dagger and slowly put stubbed it in her back. Seeing her dying in pain he understood that he caused all troubles by allowing jinn intervene in their lives. He took the lamp and came to the smith with the dagger with help of which he killed his wife. He gave it to him telling him to be careful with his wishes and put the dagger in his neck. He opened his eyes. He absolutely shocked lying in at home his bed near his wife absolutely shocked. It was just a dream. He went to the kitchen, took the lamp and ran to the sea to throw it away for nobody to find it.

The movie Beastly is a romantic fantasy drama film that is directed by Daniel Barnz. The stars are Alex Pettyfer as Kyle Kingson and Vanessa Hudgens as Linda Taylor. The film denotes that your character is more important than your physical appearance and it also denotes that don't look up to yourself too high. Kyle is a rich, handsome guy and a very popular boy in the school in the start of the movie I already saw the arrogant side of Kyle. He thinks that he is the most beautiful creature in the world. He's so arrogant. The witch warned him that he should change his attitude but he didn't listen the second chance that the witch give was wasted he never learn until the witch cursed him. He makes him into a beastly. Then there is this girl named Linda Taylor she change Kyle. Linda is a lovely girl and she loves flowers specially rose. She teaches Kyle how to appreciate and love things that he has. She teaches him how to truly love something or someone. When Kyle turned into a beast he thought that no one will accept him because of his appearance. The witch told him that someone must love him even so he doesn't look too good. At the almost end of the story he lost his hope because Linda left him. But at the end Linda and Kyle end up together. And Linda said the three magical words ââ¬Å"I love youâ⬠. Being beautiful and handsome is so overwhelming but if your attitude is not so good your beauty is nothing. You should always be aware that others might misunderstand your actions or what you have said to them. Be sensitive enough to know that someone is hurt by what you have said. Always remember that in communicating in someone you should know his/ her cultural background. Kyle's speech was too much others like the witch didn't like it because he said that he doesn't care about the environment he just care about his image. He is being insensitive to others that love our environment. You as the speaker should always know how to express your opinion in a nice and clear way so that there will be no misunderstanding in mode of communication. As a field organizational communication studies exactly what it sounds like the communication in organization. Defining the particulars of this often comes down to the researcher and the perspective that skew their opinions on the field. These subtle differences are why it takes Papa, Daniels and Spiker almost 16 pages to express their definition of their field of study. The organizational experiences of an individual have a huge influence on the individualââ¬â¢s opinion and definition. Despite this all communication that involves two or more members of an organization constitutes organizational communication. It does not have to pertain to the organization, but can be to build a relationship. To actually develop a short definition for organizational let alone organizational communication. There is no way to box this field because of the changes that has occurred over its short life and the wide expanses that it covers. However, it is essential as a future professional in an organization to create this personal philosophy and refine it often. For me this class and article has changed my view on the definition of organizational communication. For the past several years I have defined the term as communication within a business, but now I see that it encompasses a large majority of the communication that occurs. The influence of organizations has increased to a point that it defines our culture. It has done this to a point that our local, national and global communities could be defined as an organization. However, analyzing the influence of small scale interpersonal communication on the ââ¬Å"global organizationâ⬠is not feasible. Because of this the study of organizations is focused mostly on the members that have a direct and significant influence on an organization they are involved with. This ranges from CEOââ¬â¢s, managers, employees and customers. The communication between the groups and within each group is going to vary greatly, and it also depends on the role that each individual is in. With the near limitless communication possibilities in organizations makes it fascinating to look at how the communication facilitates the development of community in an organization Even by limiting organizational communication to this smaller sect of the globe it still accounts for almost all communication that an individual participates in outside of the family and relationships. As the article details that before leaving the house the influence organizations have on individuals is huge. This also goes further because a large part of the interaction in an organization is between peers both inside and outside of t he physical container of the organization. Since the development organizational communication the changes in perspectives has changed rapidly and drastically. With this change the area of study has also shifted. The traditional perspective was trying to use communication as a tool on their machine to slim down and increase their profits. Since then the view has changed to how communication works and how it can affect social issues within an organizations. As a field the widening the base of study is essential to the growth of the field and organizations. Defining organizational communication is an adventure into communication and all of its intricacies. The field is as flexible as the organizations it both creates and portrays, but also relates to other fields of study in communication and other social sciences. True understanding of organizations and the communication within will only come through the study of current perspectives and keeping an open mind to new organization types. What is the value of studying organizational communication? Through studying organizational communication we look at the daily communication of almost every individual in the modern world. If we do not study this integral part of our lives we would be missing out on a huge part of human communication. Being able to analyze different aspects of communication further builds our understanding of our own interests. Organizational communication integrates a variety of communication sub sects making analysis much easier. Organizational communication gives an interesting perspective on other areas of communication as well. The stresses that occur in the workplace drive communication to be a success of failure. This mixed with the wide variety characters in the organizational melting pot it gives researchers a chance to look at interracial, nterpersonal and group communication on a regular basis that otherwise would be much harder to look at. Also studying organizational communication gives companies and individuals to improve their communication and the efficiency of their business. Without communication nothing in an organization can be accomplished. Through studying organizations and then applying the results an organization can improve its profits with little cost and time. Individual s who study any communication let alone organizational communication have a huge advantage in organizational life. This is the biggest reason that I chose to study organizational communication is to give me a greater understanding of how communication works both in everyday life, but also in the professional world. As with any other young and growing field if you do not study its past you have no chance to make it. The personal and professional benefits of studying this field are amazing. With the global change from small family businesses to large global organizations it is necessary to stay current with the trends of all aspects of the organizations that are taking over the world. What two or three specific bits of information did you find most surprising, interesting, or valuable and why? The most valuable part of this article, and even this assignment was to develop a better understanding of the field that I am studying. When I first started in this minor I never had a good understanding of the organizational part of organizational communication. Through this article there has been a development of understanding, and a new ability to apply the information I have studied for the last three years. Every time I hear or read about how young the field of organizational communication is its really astounding how much it has grown. Even with the substantial amount of research drawn on from other fields the rate of growth detracts nothing from the acceptance throughout the organizational community. Being in a communication program it is required that I say that communication is the basis of everything. Having some of the most powerful people in the world acknowledge this young field makes it a lot easier to justify this point of view. The interpretive perspective brings organizations to a level of abstraction that really shows the importance of communication. The construction of reality through communication has been intriguing to me since it was mentioned in one of my early communication classes. With the interaction between members of an organization there is no way for it to be anything less than the sum of its parts. The judgment of the parts and the sum is as subjective as the example of the five dollar bill. These three parts of the chapter pulled at me strongly because they bring out the uniqueness and importance of communication. What is something interesting and/or valuable about the history of organizational communication that you discovered from sources beyond the assigned reading? While reading through this chapter I had a hard time trying to find something really intriguing, so I looked for an interesting name on the references page for an interesting name. All of this lead me to Organizational trust: What it means, why it matters from the Organization Development Journal and was written by Shockley-Zalabak, Ellis and Winograd and was published in the winter of 2000. After reading through the abstract I was hooked into a very interesting article about how trust can increase productivity. Although the article is not specifically about the history of organizational communication it does the field to other organizational fields, and even acknowledges that without communication building trust we be near impossible. By being honest with your employees the since of community can grow. This is especially important when it comes to groups and teams in an organization. Without trust a group can never bridge that gap to achieve teamness. In order to build trust in a team it takes communication that meets all of the parts the authors are testing in the article. Trust to some degree is an underlying factor in all communication in general, but for an organization trust is money. One of the most important parts of this article was the idea of identification with a company. If an employee agrees with the values of the company and the companyââ¬â¢s product they will be more productive making the company and themselves more productive. Working for a company that you feel like you can brag to your family and friends about is something unique and a powerful motivator. Relating the work of Kenneth Burke, organizations, teams and communication in an article was sure to interest someone in our program, and it does reaffirm previous studies relating to the foundations of the field. Almost all research dealing with organizations are going to have direct ties to the communication field because of how interrelated they are, and the relative youth. For the field to continue to grow we must focus on the past and the ever changing face of organizations in a global market.

During the second temple period, Judaism was faced by three main predicaments and their consequences while different groups of Jews reacted to them differently. The decline of associations between the Hellenized Jews and sacred Jews guided the Seleucid King, Antiochus IV Epiphanes, to enforce decrees prohibiting particular Jewish religious rites and traditions. As a result, the orthodox Jews revolted under the rule of the Hasmonean people (Maccabees). The revolt resulted to the creation of an independent Judean empire under the Hasmonaean dynasty.
